3D Product Design Trends you should adopt in 2017

Product design is here to stay and it is crucial to stay up-to-date with the trends that are being followed by the big companies. These trends make it much easier for people to gauge where they are in terms of the competition and to rise above their competition by constantly innovating.

Innovating with Familiarity

The “tablet revolution” has come and gone and while people adopted tablets easily, because they were a relatively new concept at the time, they are not accepting smart watches with the same fervor.

The probable reason?

It’s not as new a product, but the technology that’s driving it, is. No one had any idea what a tablet would look like. But people already know what a watch is. There is no excitement element present about the product design of the watches.

That is why many tech companies that are designing tech products like smart watches, are adopting product design elements from more traditional watches. This includes the finish and form of the product. The familiarity of the product design makes it easier for people to buy and use the watch for form and function.

No one want’s a prototype that is hopelessly impractical when it comes to form and function. This goes double for the 3D Product design companies that work to create apps. If people do not identify with the apps or they have many glitches, those products will have failed in the eyes of the target customers. So it’s important to keep it relevant and simplistic in design.

 Using VR for design

VR has been a reality for a year now and people are just beginning to fathom what it is capable of. While consumer electronics and tech players have been developing their own forms of VR devices, its potential in product design is just being realized. Designers can now use this technology to make an impact on their products after understanding what their end consumers require from them.

They can use VR technology to be able to figure out exactly what their consumers want in terms of their product design. For example, a game developer and designer can be in the shoes of the character they are designing to get a better idea of what needs to be added tothe character for better design or functionality.

They can also be used to test out products such as the Fuze Visa (Multipurpose) Card and the ORII smartphone that makes your finger a smartphone through bone conduction. These products can be tested using VR to test their overall functionality and make them easier to use and adapt.

When designers will be able to experience what their users experience from the products they have designed, it will open up a world of opportunities and give invaluable insights to help them meet the requirements of their target customers. Ultimately this will lead to better product design.
